Eco Detection proudly partnered with Monash University, Melbourne University and the Victorian EPA to monitor agricultural runoff and identify levels of ammonium, nitrate and nitrite.
In this pilot, the Ion-Q+ unit was configured to take measurements at the onset of flow or onset of an event, using an electrical conductivity sensor that detected flow through a flume.
When initiated, the Ion-Q+ unit commenced sampling every hour, clearly picking up the initial flush – as seen in the graph of Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen shown below.
This level of detection would be impossible with lab grab samples, and has contributed to the Victorian EPA’s acceptance of the validity and effectiveness of Ion-Q+. It is a clear illustration of how Ion-Q+ provides a complete data picture, aligned to EPA reporting requirements.
